100 Poems

January 28, 2009

Poets and friends Arielle Greenberg and Rachel Zucker have collaborated to create a blog called Starting Today: Poems for the First 100 Days. For the first one hundred days of President Obama’s first term, the site will feature a poem penned specifically for that day in time.

The first poem, naturally, is the one written and read at the Inauguration by Elizabeth Alexander. As I was thoroughly unimpressed with Alexander (more her reading than the poem itself), I feel that the poems are getting better as the project goes along.

I am interested to see what will happen if President Obama’s administration were to do something that does not sit well with the population of poets.
