13 March 1911: Science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard was born in Tilden, Nebraska. Better known as the founder of the religion of Scientology, Hubbard published over 130 novels in his life but none were more important or influential than his book, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Hubbard died in 1986 but his name lives on, primarily due to his remaining influence over Scientologists across the world.
