Real Life in Hawaii

March 24, 2009

For the most part, this blog avoids completely personal anecdotes and stories, but I just cannot resist today. During my commute this morning, I had my iPod on shuffle and since I have roughly 9750 songs the selection is truly random (though it may not always seem so).

I went through a few years as a huge fan of Jack Johnson and as a result I have a few recording of live shows. On one of the recordings is a track that is just Jack Johnson explaining the meaning of his song, “Mud Football” that concludes with him wrapping up, “This song is really about real life growing up in Hawaii.” The next track, due to the shuffle setting, was not “Mud Football” but instead it was the Men Without Hats song, “Safety Dance.”

With that, my day was made.
